I watch soccer once in a while, I enjoy it, but I am not really a fan. However, this 3-minute video ad from Nike for the World Cup makes me want to be a fan. It even has Homer Simpson in it. Epic win.

As an aside, it is disconcerting the way the reporter (Anna Coren) phrased some of her sentences:

“It concedes, if the the big one does hit, nothing can stop the carnage.”

… carnage? And then she concludes with …

“It’s little comfort for a city that’s only too aware its time will eventually come.“

I feel guilty that I laughed. Japanese are worse than us when it comes to spoken English. So are most other Asian countries. But I doubt they laugh at their own.

So I ask you dear readers: since we consider English as our second language, definitely our medium of instruction at schools, and we claim to be the best call center agents, is it bad to laugh at things like this? Am I bad because I laughed (the Tenks part really got me)? Natawa ka din ba?
